websites /links and softwares i have been using for my evaluation

1) I have been using a website called 'zamzar' to convert my 'mov' file video's into 'mp4' files to upload video onto the blog . this site has been very effective and has saved me alot of time.

2) i've also been using emaze to create slides to explain in more detail about my media products and evaulation.

3) lastly, i have been using camtasia which has been very useful in comparing and contrasting my media products with real ancillary products from other artist . after creating slides on camtasia i then have to process it over to youtube which is time consuming but the finished product always looks good.

evaluation question 2 : audience feedback for ancillary and advertisment/ how effective is the combination of your main product (video) and ancillary texts (digipak and advertisement)

AUDIENCE FEEDBACK FOR ANCILLARY AND ADVERTISEMENT:

1) Looking back on your blog about synergy - how did you plan to use synergy in your production pieces? 

in my music video i made sure that when my artist was lip synching with the chorus of the song he was wearing the green baseball jacket. This is because i feel it will be easy for high street market to replicate his style of clothing and so this will lead to a greater following and bigger fan base.

within the digipak and advertisement my main form of synergy shown is the artist himself . both images shown on the digipak and the advert show the 'star image' in which Goodwin talks about in his theory and allows the audience to become more familiar with who the artist truly is.

reasons for location in magazine and digipak ?

I wanted to take the digipak and advertisement photo at albany park (enfield)  because i felt like the background ' fields' would link well with the genre of the artist because it would show more of a 'cool and calm environment . i also felt that we would get good lighting in the day and will be at less risk of being in people way. i initially wanted to take the photos at embankment which was were some of the clips from the music video was taken but then i decided not to because of distance and the fact that central london is often very busy i could put the equipment at risk of getting broken ( due to bad weather and overcrowding).

evaluation question 4: what have you learned from your audience feedback?

Here is a short video of the audience feedback i  got after viewing our music videos at the cinema.

1) How important was audience feedback for you?

Audience feedback was very important for me because i wanted to make sure my music video and ancillary product was finalised at a great standard . I also felt that in order for me to be able to improve on my media products i needed to hear what my target audience would like to see more in my media products or what i could possibly do to improve my media products. Also the feedback i got from the audience was very helpful because i was able to make changes to some of my media products for example my music video - which i originally had issues with lip synching and lighting but later on had the chance to  re-film some scenes and use more lighting equipment to enhance the scene where my artist could be seen clearly by his audience.

2) how did the audience in the cinema react to your video?   

Overall , i think the audience enjoyed the music video. one student commented ' i like the fact that you the whole music video was filmed at night, it made it stand out from everyone else's' . I was very pleased with this comment because at first i was not too sure about removing the daytime scenes of the video but when i started editing the video it turned out to be rather more 'original' and different form everybody else's . i think the audience was very pleased with the music video.

How could/would you change your media product in relation to this feedback?

music video :

if i could make some changes to my music video i would first of all start with a establishing shot. I think my music video started a bit too sharp ( going straight into the song). although this is not exactly a bad thing i think for the ''mood'' at which the song creates i think it would have been better to start of with a clear narrative through multiple establishing shots in the beginning.

Digipak/advertisment:

if i could change one thing about the digipak it would probably be that i'd make sure there was at least one image of the artist wearing the green ' baseball jacket' he was wearing in the music video. this is because i think i would have been able to demonstrate a stronger link of synergy between the digipak and music video. similarly with the advert i would have had victor wearing some touch of 'green' in order to have more synergy between all media products.
